The Dyslexia Tutoring Program
The system I use to tutor children and adults with dyslexia is the Barton System, a system based on the Orton-Gillingham program, the program most highly recommended by the top International agencies for the study of literacy, reading, writing and spelling.
This program uses systematic and explicit instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, repeated reading to improve fluency, and direct instruction in vocabulary and reading comprehension strategies that are significantly more effective than approaches that are less explicit.
An Orton-Gillingham based system is promoted by the National Institutes of Health, The International Dyslexia Association, The National Reading Panel Report and many more eminent scientists and educators in the field of literacy.
